Darkness is misunderstood, it is perceived in a negative manner, when it is indeed more essential than light itself. However, are we that afraid of the truth? They say darkness hides our secrets, yet the light hides our insecurities, it hides anxiety and it hides our demons. The light doesn't reveal who we are, but it filters who we aspire to be, it shows us a reflection of what the society around us has created within us. Yet, I dare you to sit in your room at night, switch off your lights and stare into your mirror, everything that you're afraid to see in that mirror is who you are. So is it darkness that we fear or the truth.? The answer to that is that, Darkness is the truth, it is the one thing that had existed before the very earth that we walk on was even created, it is one, in fact the only natural element that I can actually call natural in its fullest sense. Everything else had to be created around darkness, thus, making it artificial in its own manner.
So why do we fear it so much? So many people wish to run away from it, am I the only one who wishes to understand its significance? Am I the only one who actually doesn't want to walk towards the light? Why do we only embrace the light and not the darkness, why do we neglect our demons and only find comfort in our Angels? Honestly, I prefer listening to my Demons than my Angels, my demons reveal everything I need to know, while my angels reveal what I want to hear, it's all fabricated in making me think I'm okay, while my demons tell me im not okay, they're brutally honest with me and I appreciate that.
They hold me tight like a mother would hold her child and tell me everything that's true about the world, everything that's true about myself, and maybe that's my way of understanding who I truely am, by befriending my demons. Normal individuals are unable to comprehend how beautiful the darkness is, because the light has filtered us into a world that was created to hide from what really lurks in dark.
I believe that the light is easy to love, I want to see your darkness instead, I want to find myself swimming in the same ocean that you drowned in, I want you to introduce your demons to mine, I want us to lay in bed and talk about how our demons visit us every night.
SHOW ME YOUR DEMONS AND I'LL SHOW YOU MINE.
DARKNESS IS ESSENTIAL, LIGHT IS A LUXURY BASED ON THE IDEA OF CHOICE.
